    Dear Student,

Welcome back to school for a fantastic school year. This year promises to be a great one! Here are a few things you need to know.

    Rules of Conduct

    1.       Respect others, materials, and the classroom learning experience

    2.       Be prepared for class with all materials

    3.       Be in your seat, quiet and ready to work at the time class is to begin.

    4.       Follow all directions, as written and verbal, on all assignments the first time. Be thorough, neat and accurate.

    5.       Leave the room/lab clean and neat when you depart and not until the teacher gives permission to leave.

Consequences to Broken Rules of Conduct

It is my philosophy that the punishment for broken rules should be appropriate based on each individual student and the degree of misbehavior. My experience is that the same consequence does not work for each and every student. Possible consequences are: verbal warning, call home, conference with team teachers, lunch detention, after school detention, removal to In School Suspension or office, etc.

    Homework/Assignments and Grades

Homework will be assigned from time to time and will be due at the beginning of class. Long-term projects will be introduced and worked on in class. If the project is an individual project and not a group project, it can be worked on at home. All group projects must be worked on during the given class time or after school in the classroom/lab with all group members.

Due dates will be fair and strictly enforced. Late work will be accepted, however the grade will be reduced 15% for one late and 50% for two days late, and more than 2 days late will not be accepted unless prior arrangements are made with the teacher. Excused absences will allow for extended deadlines.

I will try my best to keep Skyward, our online grading system, updated for student and parent viewing. Teachers can monitor individual performance only so far. Ultimately, the parent and student should regularly monitor grades.

Skyward will also provide a calendar of what was covered in class and any homework information. If absent, any handouts or worksheets will be in the pink bin labeled “Assignments” in the hanging file for the absent date. My Big Campus will no longer be used. Also, use your planner!

If you feel you need addition help with schoolwork, I am available before school, lunch, and after school on almost a daily basis. Also while working at home in the evening, you can email me questions at the email address listed below and I will try my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
