• Emergency School Closing Information

    Calling school off is never an easy decision.  It is important for you to know the process for calling off school.  The School City of Hobart and City personnel (the Hobart Police Department and the Street Department) begin the process as early as 2:00 a.m. when bad weather is expected.  The Superintendent is out driving the roads with the maintenance department as well .  The roads are continually assessed for safety.  Buses begin routes at 6:00 a.m. If by 6:00 a.m. the roads are favorable and conditions are expected to be good to get the students safely in school, then school remains open.    
     

    We try to make informed decisions as quickly as possible.  Weather is very unpredictable as you know.  Please know that 6:00 a.m. is decision making time unless the conditions drastically change.  We appreciate you understanding the magnitude of the decision making process and hope that you understand that it is taken very seriously.
