Hello!  Welcome to fifth grade!  My name is Lesley Mancilla.  I am so excited to begin my 11th year teaching at Liberty Elementary School!  This is my 9th year teaching fifth grade.  I began my teaching career in the middle school, teaching 8th grade math and science.  I taught eighth grade for one year, then made a huge move to kindergarten.  After teaching kindergarten for two years, I finally found my spot in 5th grade!  I have enjoyed teaching each grade level, but fifth grade is the best!

I was born and raised in Hobart and attended Mundell Elementary School (when it was more than just a playground and a track), Hobart Middle School, and Hobart High School.  After high school, I went on to graduate from Purdue University Calumet.  In 2012, I graduated with my Master’s degree through Indiana Wesleyan.  I live in Crown Point with my husband and our family.  We have a smart and loving tenyear-old boy, Hayden,  a wild and independent little seven year old, Nicolas, and a smiley, outspoken, and adventurous three year old, Cooper!

For fun, I love camping and being outside, reading, and spending time with my family.  I  have  competed in various 5ks over the past few years, and I cannot wait to begin running again!

Although my family and I no longer live in Hobart, I always knew that this is where I wanted to spend my teaching career.  I consider myself a very lucky girl to be teaching in the best school in my favorite hometown!  You know what they say, “Once a Brickie, Always a Brickie!”
