    HOME

    The Home screen is the landing space when first logging in to Skyward Family Access.  The Home screen contains the central user Wall, where parents and students can find posts from the district, the school and the student's teachers. The wall will keep the most recent posts at the top so that the User always has the most recent information at a glance.

    AccessWall

    1.  Message Notifications  At the top of the wall, a User can find a Messages notification.  This is a quick way to find out if there are Unread messages that need to be viewed.  When the notice is clicked, a list of all Unread Messages will appear in a new box.

    2.  Message  Status  In the upper right corner of each Wall message, there is a small arrow that can be clicked to allow a User to hide the message or mark it as read so that it no longer shows up in the Message Notification box.

    3.  Upcoming Events  On the right side of the window, the Upcoming Events box runs the entire vertical length of the screen.  This will show the most recent events on the User's calendar for a quick and easy glance at tasks or events that are near.  In the image above, the User can see that there is an upcoming Quiz on Wednesday, September 16.

    CALENDAR

    The Calendar shows events that have been marked on the calendar as well as any assignments/tests that have been entered into the teachers' gradebooks.  Teachers will mark many assignments with due dates, allowing students and parents to see when those assignments need to be turned in.  The Calendar brings together ALL events and assignments from all classes in which the student is enrolled, as well as any school or district posted items.  This makes it easy for students to keep an eye on their tasks all from one place.

    Calendar
    In the Calendar above, the User can see in the Zoomed in day that the student had two quizzes. Since the day has already passed and the quizzes were taken,  the student and parent can see the grade mark received as well.  If the User clicks on the Assignment/Quiz entry once it has been scored, he/she can then view the details of the assignment (see image).

    The blue entries on the calendar indicate an Attendance notification.  In the Zoomed in view, the User can see there is a Tardy entry.  Clicking on that Tardy will show the User that days Attendance record so that he/she can identify where that Tardy occurred (see image).

    GRADEBOOK

    The  Gradebook shows the User the gradebook for each course in which the student is enrolled.  Within this view, the User can view the summary Grade Mark for each course and then drill down to each individual assignment to see details related to each.

    GradebookView

    1.  Missing Assignments  At the top of the Gradebook screen, the User can find the Missing Assignments notification message.  In the image above, the student has no missing assignments.  If a student has missing assignments, the notification message will identify how many and show the User which assignments from which courses are Missing.

    2.  Class List  The left side of the screen lists each of the student's classes.  The period and teacher is also listed beneath the name of the course, as well as the time the course meets if applicable (MS/HS Only).   If there is a small arrow to the left of the course name, then there are assignments recorded in the gradebook for that course.  Clicking on the arrow will pop open the assignment list to show details related to each assignment, as seen below.

    AssignmentList

    3.  Grade Marks Column  The Grade Marks will appear to the right of each course that currently has at least one graded assignment.  This grade mark is a running average of all assignment grades in that course.  Some teachers choose to grade based on weighted categories, while others grade based on a running average.  In both cases, the current course grade mark will appear in this column.

    4.  Term Headers  TermHeaders appear along the top line to provide scores for each Term listed for the school.  Each school will have different Term Headers.

    ............
    Elementary Schools - Q1 - Q4
    4 columns exist at the elementary schools.  Each column is the score for quarters 1 - 4.

    Hobart Middle School - T1 - T4
    4 columns exist at the middle school.  Each column is the score for terms 1 - 4 (each term is a quarter in length).

    Hobart High School - Q1 - Q4, SE1 - SE2, S1 - S2
    The high school is broken up into 2 full semesters.  The S1 and the S2 columns are the semester scores, which are calculated from the other columns.

    S1 = Q1 (40%) + Q2 (40%) + SE1 (20%)
    SE1 is the first quarter semester exam

    S2 = Q3 (40%) + Q4 (40%) + SE2 (20%)
    SE2 is the second quarter semester exam
