What a great time was enjoyed by all!   The students had studied heroes, especially in library.  They read and wrote about their heroes. 

 

During this evening, families made hero masks, wrote hero poems with music, made a hero chia pet, created a story and a hero stamp, decorated a t-shirt with hero ideas, and read stories about heroes.  Police Officer Ogden brought his hero dog with him to explain their roles in police duties.  To culminate the night, the teachers displayed their children"s best writings from their Writer"s Workshops for their families to read.

 

Every family left with a "summer family journal" with many ideas to keep the journal going.  Every child received a "You are a Writing Hero" button to wear.
