• We are working very hard to keep our folders organized.  This takes time and patience, and I have appreciated your help in this!  Here is what should be returned (bring right back side):
    • Math homework is returned daily.  It is assigned Monday-Thursday, which means your child turns it in Tuesday-Friday.  If it is still in your child's folder that night and has no star or other mark on it, then I have not seen it yet.  I ask for this every morning, and have been checking folders lately after finding out that some of my boys and girls just don't want to part with their papers! :)  Thank you for your help with this... we will get it!
    • Reading Log/Strike Paper- This is kept on the "bring right back" side all week for us to correspond about behavior.  The reading log and strike paper should be filled out each night.  It is to be turned in each Monday.
    • Word Works Packet- This is handed out on Monday and one page should be completed nightly.  The homework is passed out as a packet because we know that families are busy!  It is most beneficial to do a little bit of practice each day when possible.  This packet is due on Friday, and NO EARLIER than Thursday.
Other things you may see on the "bring right back" side:
    • Poems- We read poems in class that reinforce sight words.  These can be read at home as part of the 10 minutes of reading, then returned to put in our binders.  We read them during independent reading time and use them as a reference during writing.
    • Paper Books- These books help us practice our reading strategies or word works rules.  These can also be part of the 10 minutes of reading.  These are kept in our browsing boxes at school.
    • Scholastic News- We read Scholastic News in class, then take it home to read with our families.  This, too, goes in our binders at school for reference and independent reading material.  These only come home a few times a month.
Don't forget to record these on the reading log.  It is okay to put it under "reading bag books."

It is important to return these items so that each student has ample independent reading material.  There are sometimes papers that were done as a class or at centers that are not graded and should be on the "left at home" side, but can accidentally end up on the wrong side.  If you are ever unsure whether to return something, go ahead and send it back and have your child ask.  I am always help to help! :)
