    Wrestling Coaching Staff

    Head Coach:  Steve Balash
     
    Coach Balash is in his 30th year as the head wrestling coach and 49th year of coaching wrestling at Hobart.  He has also coached football and track for those same 49 years.  He has been married since 1970 to wife Jeannie and has two daughters, Stefanie (Balash)Osika, and Heather (Balash) Overturf.  Some of his athletic accomplishments are:  Three sport athlete at Hobart, 3 year letterman in football, captain, All State, and member of the North-South All Star Team, 2 year basketball starter, 2 year track letter winner participating in shot and high jump, and selected the Most Athletic Senior.  He is a graduate of Indiana State University where he played football.  He was the freshmen MVP, a 3 year starter and selected as the team Captain while playing for ISU.  Steve is also a member of the Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and the Football Coaches Hall of Fame. This year he has been added to the Hobart Hall .  retired, but still coaching 3 sports.
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
                                  
     
     
     
    Middle School Staff
     
      
     Head Coach Josh Mehay 
    Coach Josh Mehay played football, and wrestled at Merrillville and played football for st. Joseph College.
    He Teaches at the Middle School, and coaches the big boys.
    Tom Swafford
    Coach Swafford is former wrestler at Kankakee Valley. He was a two time state qualifier. Tom has also spent several years coaching at Hobart High School.
