Since four generations of my family are Hobart graduates, Hobart High School has always been a big part of my life.  I graduated in 1971;  that's right I'm 58 years old.  I attended Purdue University Lafayette and received my graduate degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Currently, I live in Hobart with my husband Dan and our dog Holly Berry.  We have two grown children.  My daughter Cindy monitors brainwaves during surgeries, and my son Craig is also a teacher at the high school.  He is also one of the coaches of the football Brickies.  My nephew Scottie is a freshman here too! Both of my children returned to the area after experiencing many parts of the world.  Remember, there's no place like home!!  I have a granddaughter who is six months old; her name is Julia Anne.  Another granddaughter will be born around November 28th.  Her name will be Ava Elizabeth.

You may have also heard of another Mrs. Osika.  She is my daughter-in-law who teaches kindergarten at George Earle.  In fact, I was her English teacher for three years of her high school career, and she still loves me!

This year I will be teaching sophomore and dual credit senior English. My 10 graders will be very busy getting ready for the ECA, the state test that determines if a student graduates.  Additionally, I am one of the academic coaches for the football team as well as co-chair for the English department.

I love to travel, to camp, to read mystery novels, and to be with my family and friends.  I grow flowers in my back yard to attract hummingbirds and butterflies.  I also volunteer at the Hobart Food Pantry and the Hobart Tri Kappa City Wide Giving Tree.  I am an avid Hobart sports fan.  My favorite sports are football, wrestling, and basketball.  You will see me socializing and cheering at many Hobart sports events.

I have been teaching at Hobart High School for 27 years.  The time has gone by very quickly, so I am always surprised to see former students who have gray hair or have children who are now high school students.  I enjoy all of my students but become frustrated with those who disrupt my class and keep me from being the best teacher I can be.  I can honestly say that I really do not enjoy grading papers, but I love to see progress - especially in my students' writing.
