The Hobart High School Band was awarded a Gold Rating at the ISSMA Organizational Concert Band Contest on Saturday, April 14.The Band also received a Sight-Reading Award for the successful first-time reading of music they had never seen before. This year, Band members moved up a difficulty category level from last year, and were entered into Group II. The Band continues to succeed despite more difficult music and judging. Event Judge and retired Valparaiso High School Band Director Robert Miller paid compliments to the Band and remarked that it was great to see the Hobart Band increasing in numbers and climbing the ladder with increasingly challenging music.
Former Paxton Music representative Nathan Voges congratulated HHS Band students at the conclusion and predicted that they could be a competitive Group I band within the next two years, and even compete at state concert band qualifications.
For the 2006-2007 year, the Indiana State School Music Association has awarded Gold Ratings in all of the Hobart HS Bands: Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band.
HHS Band Director Brian Grenier stated that he is very proud of the Band's accomplishments and looks forward to future challenges. Congratulations to these high school musicians for their success and hard work.
