• Hobart High School Band Earns Top Honors!

    HS Band

    Great news!

The Hobart High School Band traveled to Kankakee Valley High School to perform at the ISSMA High School Organizational Contest and gave an outstanding performance.

The band received Gold ratings and excellent scores from all three participating judges. Following the performance, the band earned the Gold Sight-Reading Award for their successful first-time reading of a new selection of music.

Performing a more challenging program than past years, the band also succeeded to earn the additional “With Distinction” Honors for their near-perfect performance scores.

The judges, retired music teachers and college music professors, were very complimentary of our students and had many wonderful comments about the band’s performance.  Donald D. Litherland, retired Elkhart Memorial HS and 2014 Phi Beta Mu inductee into the National Band Directors Hall of Fame, stated:

"Excellent job in preparing.  This is one of the best bands I have heard in a long, long time.  You are to be highly complimented for your work.  I could not say enough nice stuff.  Congratulations on a job well done."

This performance also marks another high school band accomplishment: 10 YEARS OF CONSECUTIVE ISSMA CONCERT BAND GOLD RATINGS.

Lets Congratulate Band Director, Mr. Brian Grenier and our High School Band Musicians for their hard work and success!
